In today’s assembly, Year 1 joined Mrs Beer in the hall. There were pictures on the focal point of people helping each other: someone giving a homeless man some food, an aid worker passing a water bottle to a child and a girl helping an elderly lady to walk. Today’s message was all about showing love and care for others.
We heard this reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark:
Glory to you, O Lord.
When Jesus was asked which was the most important rule he said, “First, love God, Second, love everyone else as much as your self.
These are the most important rules.
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Year 1 came up with some great ideas of how to care for others as you care for yourself: help someone when they fall over; do the washing up for mum; help clean the house; help others when they are stuck with their work and to share our things.
How will you complete this week’s mission?

Year 5 shared examples of how they loved others as themselves. These included caring for friends by playing with them at breaktime, and being kind to siblings by sharing with them.
In Year 3 we have shown that we love others as we love ourselves by helping each other in class. We have smiled at each other to show we care and listened to our teachers then followed their instructions. We have worked together as a team to do the best Christingle Liturgy that we can. We have shown good manners to other and congratulated each other when we have won things not showing any jealousy.
In Year 3 we always care for each other.
Year 1 came up with lots of ideas for loving others as we love ourselves because they are very good at doing that every day.
We have been kind and thoughtful to our friends by helping them, making pictures for them and cheering them up when they are sad.
We have also been trying to keep our Advent promises which were all about helping and caring for, others .
In Year 2, the children have helped others when their friends struggled with something this week. Eathen helped his brother and shared his toys and the children have taken care of each other out on the playground.
In Year 4, the children have put a smile on each other’s faces by speaking to each other kindly, including everyone in games during break and lunchtime and said “Merry Christmas” to everyone before they left for Christmas break. They also wrote letters and donated gifts to the veterans and elderly people who may be alone this Christmas.
