“A man can have no greater love than to lay down his life for his friends…I call you friends.” John 15: 9 – 17

In the Gospel this week, Jesus tells us that He calls us ‘friends’ and that through His death and resurrection we receive the grace to love others as Jesus asks us to. So this week we will be reminded that Jesus came to be our friend and that by being friends with others, we become close to Jesus.

Our mission this week:

This week we are going to think about all the qualities of friendship – my friends, your friends, George’s friend. We can take time to remember some of the words we used to describe true friends? That’s exactly the kind of friendship that Jesus wants to have with you. He wants you to be friends with Him – and friends with others.  This week how can we be a true friend?

    Our mission this week:
How can I be a true friend?

This week, Year 4 have been thinking about what makes a true friend. Through discussion in class, Year 4 have been able to recognise that a true friendship is the most beautiful blessing from God which needs to be treated and nourished like any priceless thing in the world.
True friends come with various qualities that make them someone special in one’s life. A true friend will watch out for you and listen to you, ensure you are safe, feel supported, and are loved. They will always have your best interests at heart and never put you down or deliberately hurt your feelings. True friends are the people who are willing to tell you the truth, even when it’s hard for you to hear, and stand by you through tough times. Finally, a truly supportive friend will love you for the person you are, flaws and all. True friends will always be there for you through the good and bad times, no matter what.
