John 14: 23 – 29
“If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make our home with him.”

In our final Eastertide assembly, we rejoice in Jesus’ promise to be with us always. We see how Jesus’ disciples were strengthened and comforted by His risen presence and learn that Jesus continues to be with us today in a new way.
As a Christian, we are all called to be an example and to be inspirational to other people. If only it was that easy! When Jesus ascended into heaven he gave us the job of spreading the Good News to the world and one of the best ways to do that is by being a good example. Think this week about who looks up to you and of course, who you look up to. How can you be a good role model and set a good example to those around you?

In Year 6B, we have taken time this week to consider how we can be a good role model to others. The children have come up with some really good ideas, including: helping others (especially those who are sad); showing kindness to everyone (even if someone else is unkind to you); sharing; being a peacemaker in situations where conflict arises; forgiving others and giving them a second chance and respecting people for who they are. One of our RE lessons linked well with this theme as we shared the parable of the Good Samaritan and thought about the actions of the Samaritan and what it means to love everyone (even those who are not our friends).
This week, Year 3 have reflected on what makes a good role model. During our Circle Time, the children were able to share many wonderful examples of people who they felt were positive role models to them in their own lives. These examples included relatives, teachers, peers and friends. Year 3 have tried really hard this week to be good examples to others too by being kind and helpful, working hard, listening carefully and being honest. Well done Year 3 and keep on being great role models!
