John 20: 19 – 23
‘After saying this, He breathed on them and said: “Receive the Holy Spirit.”’

The Feast of Pentecost is one of the biggest events in the history of the Church. The Church were part of today can be traced back to that single event when the disciples, filled with the Holy Spirit, went out into the streets and started spreading the Good News in many different languages. They found a new courage and a new mission to spread Jesus’ message and today over 1 billion people are part of the Catholic Church!
MISSION: Think about the Good News in your lives – how do you share that with others?

This week, in our pupil-led liturgy, Y6B were encouraged to think about how they could live out what they had heard in Acts 2: 1-4. It took some unpicking of what it means to spread the Good News and who we can share it with. Also, in our RE lessons this week, we have thought about the gift of the Holy Spirit and how it can bring comfort, peace and strength to someone who is unwell when the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is administered.
Later in the week, as part of our Circle Time, the children learnt about basic first aid skills and how these skills can be used to show care and compassion to others – even strangers – who might be in need of help.
