We are called to build the kingdom of God. Not out of bricks and stone but out of each other – we are living stones. Christ came to establish the kingdom of God here on earth this week, in the lives of the saints (Saint Andrew Dung-Lac and companions) we celebrate, we see people who give everything they had to build the Kingdom of God.
Mission: Read the Beatitudes. Choose a beatitude that you will try and follow this week to help make the world a better place. Try living this out this week in your life.

This week, the children have, as part of their Mission Circles, focussed on a Beatitude that they can live out. In Y6B, the children spoke about being peacemakers, for example telling an adult (rather than getting involved) if an argument is taking place, and also how they can be like Jesus (our King) and bring comfort to those who are sad. The children have found this Mission trickier than others – but we will return to the Beatitudes in future RE lessons as part of our Come and See work.
In Year 2 we had a lovely Liturgical Prayer on the theme Kingdom. We began our liturgy by creating a sacred space using prayer clothes, a candle, bible, and a cross. Children explained all the symbols we had on our space then we had a moment to close our eyes and think about what God’s kingdom would be like. We passed around a coloured stone and thought about what we wanted to say to God. We listened to the scripture and spoke about what it meant for us and how we could live out Jesus’ words. Our mission was to think about the Beatitudes and try to live one of them out. Year 2 decided that we could show to others and kindness and God would do the same in return.
