James 5: 13-16 Pray for God’s healing

1st Week of Lent
Prayer is something that can be really hard to understand, let alone do. Sometimes it comes naturally but usually it’s something we forget about and don’t find time for. Prayer is simply a chat with God and you don’t need to use the right words, you don’t even need to use any words, you just need to put aside some time to be with God. It’s amazing what a difference a few minutes a day can make – try it for yourself this week!
Mission

Year 6B have taken a few minutes most days this week to pray the Our Father. The children have also been trying to take some moments of calm while at home and spend it talking and listening to God.
We have been saying the Our Father prayer together this week and thinking about our topic of unity. We thought about those who we have compassion for in the community and who we want to keep in our prayers.
Prayer
This week, Year 3 have devoted a small part of each day to thanking God for his love by praying the Our Father using the actions taught to us by the Chaplaincy team. Prayer is important during Lent because it focuses on our need for God’s forgiveness, but it’s also about repenting and receiving God’s mercy and love. Jesus often spoke about the importance of prayer for developing a relationship with God. When asked by his followers how they should pray, he taught them the Lord’s Prayer. Knowing the significance of the prayer, made praying the Our Father even more special to us.

This week, we have been focussing on prayer and have taken the opportunity to say the Lord’s Prayer daily, sometimes in class, sometimes in a quiet moment of reflection on our own.
Also, at 3pm, we take a moment to say a silent prayer to God to ask him to look down on those who are in need of his help, those who are suffering. In this quiet time, we think about the power of prayer.
In Year 4, we have been thinking about the importance of prayer. We discussed what the ‘ Our Father’ means to us and how we can live it out in our daily lives. We have spent time daily, praying for those in Ukraine and others who we hold in our hearts. On our class prayer table, we have been reading the prayers on our prayer tree and adding new intentions.
