Knowledge is one thing, but unless we understand it we can’t use it to make the world a better place. Understanding helps us take our knowledge and apply it to our lives. Think this week about how you could be more understanding. How could you empathise and really understand what your friends are thinking or feeling? It often involves making an effort and really listening. How can you better understand the consequences of your decisions and actions this week?
Our Mission – How could you really understand what your friends are thinking or feeling this week?

Y6B have thought carefully about how they can better understand what their friends are thinking and feeling. They realise that facial expressions as well as the behaviour of an inidivdual will help them to understand what their friend is experiencing. Similarly, they realise the importance of ‘checking in’ with friends and listening to what they have to say. As part of our discussion of this, the children identified how it might be useful in some instances to learn a new language, use Makaton or to encourage a friend to use a piece of paper to write down their thoughts.
