Counsel ( also known as ‘right judgement’) is another gift of the Holy Spirit and sometimes we call it our conscience. That little voice inside of us that tells us when we’re going wrong or making the wrong decisions. The Holy Spirit can guide us in our lives if we let it and it can help us make the right choice when are faced with a difficult path. What do you need to make a decision about this week and how can the Holy Spirit help you use right judgement.

In Y6B, we used our Circle Time with Mr Sweeney this week as a time to pay each other an anonoymous compliment. (These were written on strips of paper and then read out so that each person in the group heard something positive about themselves.) In RE, we have also had in-depth conversations about fairness and justice, acknowledging that what is just, is not always fair. Making choices as to how to help our brothers and sisters can be tough – but we must try to live by the Catholic Social Principles we have learnt about in class this week and be guided by the Holy Spirit. Alongside this, the children have also been able to identify that when they make a right choice (whatever that is), they feel happy, proud, pleased and ‘a spark’ inside. They know that this is not always easy and realise that they can be tempted to make the sometimes easier, wrong choice.
