This week, many of the children in Year 1 have given food to our food collection point for a local charity. We have discussed in R.E lessons how Lent is a time to make changes and be kinder to other people.

Lulu “I have given 5 food items to the food collection point to help people who have less food than me”
Darcie “I have made a promise to keep the classroom tidy including the cloakroom so I can be kind to others”
Ryan “I have cleaned my bedroom every day to help my mum and I have helped her with the house cleaning”

Our theme of the week was ‘Almsgiving’. Almsgiving is all about giving to those in need and is a way of showing love and compassion for others.
How have we given to others this week?
Emily E – “I saw a homeless person and gave him some money, this made me feel like one of Jesus’ disciples and that I was closer to God”
Celia – “On Mother’s day I gave my mum a present and card. As well as that, I gave up my time to do some jobs around the house”
Seth – “I gave up my time to make dinner for my family when they were sick. It made me feel happy because they do a lot of things for me and I could return the favour and make them happy because I was doing things for them”
