This week, the chaplaincy team have been thinking about how we can be witnesses for Jesus in the world. In our classes, we thought about the people who set an example of witness in the world and discussed how we could follow in their footsteps in our own lives.
The children chose the Ascension as the scripture for liturgies because that is when Jesus sends his disciples to be his witnesses in the world. Julia liked the scripture because it reminded her that we are Jesus’ disciples and the Holy Spirit gives us the courage and wisdom to be witnesses, just like he did for the disciples who were alive when Jesus went to Heaven.
Children were asked to think about how they could be witnesses in the world and wrote their promises on foosteps to symbolise following in the footsteps of Jesus and the witnesses that came before us. They tried to live out their promise in the way they lived their lives.
