Year 3/4 led the whole school in a liturgy about peace. They asked us all to sit in a horseshoe shape because we are all part of God’s family and he wants us all to live in peace and friendship.
Rafferty led us in the opening prayer he had written, asking God to give us peace in times of need. The children chose St Paul’s letter to the Phillipians because it tell us that we don’t need to worry about anything because we can ask God for anything we need. God’s peace which is greater than we can understand will keep us safe and close to Jesus.
Violet asked us to think about what God’s peace means. Summer said it was looking after people who are upset because that will make their hearts peaceful. Naomi thought that it is the peace and calmness you feel in your heart when you trust God and don’t worry.
Violet explained that God’s peace comes from the Holy Spirit who is always in our hearts. God’s peace helps us to have self control even when we are cross or upset.
Maciej led us in a closing prayer thanking God for giving us peace in our hearts when we feel lots of different emotions during the busy and exciting season of Advent.
We finished by singing the song ‘Peace like a river’ to remind us that God’s peace is infinite and flows over and through us always.
What does the peace of God mean to to you?
