Today, the children have been thinking about how they can follow Jesus’ greatest commandment:
“Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 13:34)
During our Mission Monday Celebration, we revisited our Catholic Social Teaching principles and focused on Care for Creation. The children listened to the story of Creation and discussed the special responsibility God gives us to care for the world He made.
We also learned about St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and nature, who showed great love and respect for God’s creation.
This year is especially significant because 2026 marks 800 years since the death of St Francis of Assisi. The Church is celebrating this anniversary with a special Year of St Francis.
The children in Year 2 and Year 6 set a mission for the school each week. Our missions this week are:
Infant Mission: Take a moment each day to say thank you to God for His world. To complete a little act of care for God’s world around.
Junior Mission: To show love and kindness to the plants and animals in our world.
