Every monday, during the ‘Monday Morning Club’ on NDCYSlive on YouTube, you are going to be set a mission or challenge based on the word of the week and linked to encouraging you to be a Disciple!
Have a go at completing the challenge and then send us a photo or video showing what you’ve done to tshannon@aquinas-cmat.org. Send it in by thursday each week and you will feature on ‘Friday Night Live’ on YouTube and will appear here on Truespirit.
Week 9 – Journey
This week’s theme is Journey, and we are encouraged by Elise to think about the people who join us on our journey through life and make it awesome! That could be a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, friend or someone else – maybe even your pet dog! Take a photo of that person, or draw a picture to represent them, and send it in to tshannon@aquinas-cmat.org.
Week 8 – Sacrifice
Elise and Luke set us our Monday Mission this week, based on the theme of ‘Sacrifice’. Your challenge this week is to give something up, but not only that! You are challenged to use the time you have saved by not playing on your x-box or arguing with your brother to do something for someone else! Send in a photo or video to show what you’ve done to tshannon@aquinas-cmat.org.

Sacrifice at St Francis

This is Leo, from St Francis in Melton Mowbray, who has been helping his great grandmother each week, at least three times a week, with lots of jobs that she can no longer do. He puts out food for her dog, makes her bed and draws her curtains. He does these jobs with great enthusiasm and is happy to sacrifice his time to make her life better.

A student from St Francis in Melton Mowbray sacrificing some time to make dinner for his family.

Another student from St Francis sacrificing his time to help out with the ironing and making his mum a coffee (both with adult supervision!)
Well done everyone!
Week 7 – Almsgiving
Your mission this week, as given to us by Charles, is to do something extra for someone in your life. It could be a big gesture; making dinner, cleaning the house, taking the dog for a walk, or it could be something much smaller but something which will still mean a lot.
Have a go and take a photo or video of what you do for someone else. Send it in to tshannon@aquinas-cmat.org by thursday to feature on Truespirit and on NDCYS live on YouTube!
Have a great week back in school guys!

Helping Dad with the dinner

Erin, in Y7 at St Martin’s, went the extra mile this week by helping her dad cook the dinner. I’m sure he appreciated it and it tasted delicious!
Message of thanks
Kara, in Y7 at St Martin’s, wrote an email to all of her teachers to say thank you to them for all of their hard work over lockdown and to let them know how much she appreciates them. Amazing stuff, well done Kara!
‘I am so excited to be going back to school tomorrow, but there is something I would like to say first. I would like to thank you all for getting me through this lockdown; your understanding and kindness has meant a lot to me, and I want to repay that deed somewhat. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to all of you, and your fight is what kept me fighting.
My inspiration to do this came from a youtube video that I watched a few days ago, and it said to write down three things: one thing you want to accomplish this week, one thing you want to accomplish in a year, and one thing you would like to accomplish in five years. For five years, I wrote down ‘to raise over 200 pounds for charity’. For one year, I wrote down that ‘I would like to do something to help the homeless’. For this week, I wrote down that ‘I would like to make someone realise their importance in my life’ – so here I am.
I hope that I made you realise just how important you really are in my life, not only for my education, but also if I need someone to talk to about a problem.
Thank you again for all your hard work, effort, kindness and understanding put in to make Lockdown School the best it could possibly be, and for getting me through it.’
Pancake of love!
Katherine, in Y7 at St Martin’s, decided to make her mum a pancake to show her how much she loves her. Have a watch of the fantastic video she put together! Well done Katherine!
Week 6 – Fasting
Your mission this week is to give up something you don’t need; Kayla has given us some fantastic examples in the video above. As Kayla said, you could colour in and decorate a Lenten piece of artwork while thinking, praying and reflecting on what you might go without. In the link below, you’ll be able to find the artwork.
So, send in a photo of your artwork this week, along with either a description or a photo of what it is you’ve given up and tell us what impact it’s had! Have a great week!

Week 5 – Prayer
The word of the week this week is prayer. Lucy Chapman and some students from St Martin’s have set us the challenge of finding a new way to pray this week. That could be by opening the Bible to a random page, reading what you find and then spending some time with God thinking about what that passage says. Or it could be that you make a creative way to pray through art, music or your surroundings. There are some examples below.
However you manage to do it, take a photo and send it in to tshannon@aquinas-cmat.org by thursday this week!
Have a great week!
