This theme has made us think about the special school family that we belong to. It has made us think about and appreciate our similarities and differences.
We have made an effort to ensure that everybody knows that they belong and are loved. In class, we have shared some information and stories about our own cultural backgrounds and traditions. We are all special and unique!

This week we discussed the meaning of “diversity” in our child-led liturgy and reflected on this during our meditation session. We discussed how everyone is unique and special in their own way, and how our differences — such as the way we look, the languages we speak, our families, talents and interests — make our class and community stronger. We talked about the importance of kindness, respect and celebrating one another, and how we can show love and inclusion to everyone, just as Jesus teaches us.

Daniel – I was thinking that God made us all special and different.
Meryl – I have brown skin and that makes me special
Frank – I was thinking about how everyone looks different, but we can all still be friends.
