The Chaplaincy team have been inviting everyone to think about the importance of forgiveness. All the children were asked to think about being forgiven and forgiving.
Year 5 thought that we need to forgive others every time they hurt us because Jesus taught us that we should forgive 77×7 times which means every time someone hurts us, even when we are really upset.
Year 3 discussed the way that it can be difficult to forgive ourselves because we feel so guilty about the bad choices we have made and that Judas couldn’t forgive himself after he betrayed Jesus.
Year 4 felt that it was important to take part in the sacrifice of reconciliation because we are forgiven but we also carry out a penance so that we can make up for what we have done, which helps us to forgive ourselves as well as being forgiven by God.
The children responded to God’s love and forgiveness by writing their ideas on a picture of a dove – representing the power of the Holy Spirit helping us to forgive and be forgiven.
