Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me.” John 10: 11 – 18

In the Gospel this week we are reminded that:

• God calls us to love others

• That we can develop a deeper understanding of God’s plan for our lives through prayer and silence.

Our mission this week:

This week our mission is to find times of silence. Pope Francis tells us, “We must try to create space to listen to God by making time for Him in silence and prayer.” You could do this within school at a certain time every day, or at home before going to bed. On Friday can you share where you found these opportunities.

In Year 6, we have tried to find times of silence this week in which to make space and time to listen to God. This helps us to reflect upon the plan that God has for our lives.
We found various opportunities for this. Within school, we had class liturgies and pupil-led liturgies, which left space for us to pray and focus on our thoughts. At home, some children read their bibles early in the morning or before bed. Some children made time to say their prayers before bed and some found the time during church services. Quite a few children said that they found it easier to create the time to listen when they were alone but one class member said they like to pray in silence with their family.
