The two Year 34 classes worked together this week to plan a liturgy about how people use the gifts of the Holy Spirit in their vocations. The liturgy leaders asked the children to reflect on the gifts of the Spirit which help people like priests, sisters, nurses, doctors and paramedics to love and serve God and others in the work they do.
They shared the scripture from St Paul’s letter to the Corinthians (1Cor12) where he tells us about the gifts we are all given and asked the children to write on a heart the gift they have and wanted to share with others and then give it to someone else. The children in the liturgy reflected on how they could share these gifts to love and serve God and other people and thanked God for the vocations of service in His world.
Deon commented that it made him happy and calm that God had a plan for his life and that he had been given the gifts of the Holy Spirit to help him follow God’s plan. Marcel was full of joy because God loved him so much that he had given him special gifts to help him lead a good life. Victor was excited to find out what his vocation would be and he knows that God will help him to find it.
