On Wednesday we came together virtually for our CTK Weekly Word assemblies with Mrs Marshall and Mrs Glassford where we learned all about what the words Corpus Christi means.

Our mission this week was to spend time adoring the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ: He died for us so that we can receive eternal life. Draw an icon of the host and the chalice to place on your prayer focus in class worship this week.

Please could you comment below on the following questions …

  1. What the assembly made you think about
  2. How the assembly made you feel
  3. What you might do as a result of understanding the words Corpus Christi

It made us think about how much God gave up for us and that He would sacrifice His only Son for us.
We have learnt that bread is really symbolic in the Catholic faith: we are spiritually nourished through Jesus Christ.
We want to try to create our own adoration in the classroom by dedicating the prayer area to Corpus Christi. We are going to get out the Eucharistic plate and the Chalice.

In Year 1 we thought about the story of the Last Supper. We talked about Jesus’s body and blood being represented by the bread and wine. We remembered that Jesus gave his life for us and that means he must love us very much.

We are looking forward to our first Holy Communion in Year 3 and we had lots of questions.

We will try to spread Jesus’ love by being kind and caring towards our friends.

    6KT:
God gives us everlasting love and life.
Jesus forgives us even if we sin and will give us new life in heaven.
We’re all going to live with God in heaven.
This reminds me of the feeding to the 5000 and how Jesus is the bread of life.
