Gospel Worship and Mission – The Feast of Christ the King

In our Gospel worship this week, we learnt about how the Church celebrates Christ as King of all the Universe. The gospel reading (John 18:33-37) reminds us that Jesus’ kingship is not one of political power, crowns and splendour, but one of peace and truth. Jesus is not an earthly king – his kingdom is heaven. Jesus stands up for God’s true values of love and forgiveness and leads us into the truth. He also reveals to us the truth about ourselves. All we have to do is listen to him and open our hearts to him. Your mission this week is based around the theme of LISTENING. You have been challenged to LISTEN more carefully to those around you so that you are better able to understand what they are saying to you. It is only when we listen really carefully that we can hear what Jesus wants for each of us.
