We are called to be an outward looking Church – spreading the Good News just as Mary Magdalene did on that Easter morning. Pope Francis tell us that we should not look in on ourselves but instead take the Joy of the Gospel out to those people who need to hear it. This doesn’t mean just shouting bible passages at people in the street it means living our life in a way that reflects our scripture and shows people the very best of what our Church is all about.
This week we began our mission circles. An opportunity to spend time with children from across the school and offer each other support and guidance. On Monday we reflected on what had brought us joy during the Easter holidays. On Friday we will join together again to say thank you for our week.
Our mission is to think about what brings us joy.

At the start of the week in our mission circles, we reflected on the things that had brought us joy during the Easter holidays because spending time doing things that makes us feel good or feel inspired and happy inside is a really great feeling. Today, we met up again in our mission circles to reflect on our moments of joy again and to say thank you to God for our week. Some of the things that have made us feel good and added joy to our lives this week have included spending time with our family, attending mass, talking to friends, playing sport, praying to God, listening to music, reading a book, playing a game and eating delicious food. We thank you God for all the joys that we have been fortunate to have experienced this week.
In Y6B we began the week by reflecting upon what had brought us joy during the Easter holidays. This included: spending time playing with our friends, going to the park, and doing things with our families.
In our Circle Time, we thought about how we can bring joy to people in our community and we made ‘thank you’ cards to show others that they are important and we care for them. Each child chose who they personally wanted to thank. Some children focussed on those at home who love and care for them. Others recognised people in our school community like Mrs McVea, our premise officer and team of cleaners. Our local community was also at the forefront of our thoughts with some children thanking those that collect the rubbish each week or the doctors and nurses who care for those who are sick.
