This afternoon on the Junior Site, the Year 2s walked down to meet the Year 6 pupils and share a class mass together, celebrated by Fr John. It was a wonderful cross-site experience for the children as they got to sit next to a friend from a different class or year group and share a mass booklet together to help the pupils better learn the responses.
Last week, Fr John came into school to teach the sung responses to the mass from the Roman Missal and so we gave these a try for the first time today. The chants can be difficult to learn as there are no beats in the music, but we gave it our best shot and will continue to practice them in hymn practice!
| The First reading from St Paul to the Galatians (4: 22-24, 26-27, 31 – 5: 1). The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons. The mother of one son was a slave woman, and the mother of the other son was a free woman. 23 Abraham’s son from the slave woman was born in the normal human way. But the son from the free woman was born because of the promise God made to Abraham. 24 This true story makes a picture for us. The two women are like the two agreements between God and his people. One agreement is the law that God made on Mount Sinai. The people who are under this agreement are like slaves. But the heavenly Jerusalem that is above is like the free woman, who is our mother. My brothers and sisters, you are children who were born because of God’s promise, just as Isaac was. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. |

| A reading from the Gospel according to Luke (11:29-32) 29 The crowd grew larger and larger. Jesus said, “The people who live today are wicked. They ask for a miracle as a sign from God. But no miracle will be done to prove anything to them. The only sign will be the miracle that happened to Jonah.[a] 30 Jonah was a sign for those who lived in Nineveh.[b] It is the same with the Son of Man. He will be a sign for the people of this time. 31 “On the judgment day, you people who live now will be compared with the queen of the South,[c] and she will be a witness who shows how guilty you are. Why do I say this? Because she travelled from far, far away to listen to Solomon’s wise teaching. And I tell you that someone[d] greater than Solomon is right here, but you won’t listen! 32 “On the judgment day, you people who live now will also be compared with the people from Nineveh, and they will be witnesses who show how guilty you are. I say this because when Jonah preached to those people, they changed their hearts and lives. And you are listening to someone greater than Jonah, but you refuse to change! The Gospel of the Lord. This is what we enjoyed:
MO: I enjoyed being able to teache Yr 2 how to behave when it was Mass and what to say after Father Cahill had spoken.
ES: I enjoyed helping the Year 2s learn more about the Mass.
JP: I enjoyed accompanying the Year 2s to the Mass so that they know what to do/
ZK: I enjoyed the song at the end beacuse it was a school song and it was about letting your light shine.
SR: I enjoyed being closer to God.
JB: I enjoyed singing.
KU: I enjoyed sitting next to the Year 2s because its not something that we do often. It felt like we were all united because they don’t come to the Junior site often.
This is what it made us think about:
OU: It reminded me of God and how he is always with us.
BMJ: It made me think about God’s eternal love.
BH: It made me think about God’s love.
Who did you pray for:
RM: TheUkranians because they are at war with Russia.
BH: People who are in hospital.
LM: Some people that have died.
JB: I was praying for Father Cahill becaue he wanted to become a Priest.
JS: I prayed for those who are sick and those who are suffering.
