This week, Year 1 led us in an exploration of individuality and how this relates to being part of the body of Christ. They were very excited and a bit nervous because it was the first time they had led a whole school liturgical prayer! The children dressed differently and wore different clothes to show the ways in which they are different from eachother and individual creations of God.
The children chose the scripture 1 Corinthians 12 because it tells us that although we are all different and are good at different things, we are all part of the body of Christ. None of us can live successfully without other people. As Paul says, the eye can’t do the job of the ear. All of the parts of the body are indispensable and equally valued by God. Because God values us all equally, we should do the same. God made us all different so we need to work together so that we can make His world better.
They challenged us to teach someone else what special talent made us individual.
