Mrs Taylor’s class did their poetry recital on Friday based around the theme of humerous poems and limericks. The children confidently performed ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’ and a selection of short limericks by Edward Lear. They also sang the song ‘Oat and Beans and Barley Grow’. It was lovely to see the children not only learning these poems and limericks off by heart, but also to hear what they had learned about the poet Edward Lear and how limericks are both written and performed.

We enjoyed learning the poems and limericks and singing the song at the end. Our favourite poem was the limerick ‘There was an old man with a beard’.
Our advice to the next class would be to make sure you project your voices so that everyone can hear you.
All the kids did amazing. Well done Mrs Taylor and Mrs Wood.
