EYFS led the whole school in a lovely liturgy about holiness. They asked everyone what it meant to be holy and then asked us to think about how we could be holy and maybe even be a saint ourselves.
The children had lots of ideas about this including: Victor – follow God’s word and show respect to everyone; Tailun – pray and spend time with God and Julia – treat everyone the way you want to be treated and love everyone the way that God loves them.
The EYFS children had a great simple way for everyone to be holy and they taught it to us so that we could use it all week! It was, ‘Love God and do good things’. Year 3/4 really liked this as it was easy to remember and really made them think about how to be a holy person. They really liked the actions – making a heart and working hard – that went with the slogan.
As a response to their ideas, we all said the Hail Mary together because Our Lady is a model of holiness for everyone. If we strive every day to get closer to her and ask for her help and intercession, we will grow in holiness, in our love and service of God and others every day.
At the end of the Liturgy, the children led us in a beautiful prayer which encouraged us to think more deeply about our behaviour and choices.
Dear God, if I cannot be brilliant, let me be kind. If I cannot change the world, let me inspire just one other to do so. If I cannot give away riches, let me be loving. Let me be known for kindness, for that is the greatest glory. Amen.
