As May is the month when we particularly reverence Our Lady, the whole school celebrated our annual Marian Procession. We are extremely lucky to have a grotto next to the school. The sisters in the Franciscan convent keep it looking beautiful so that it shows how much we love Mary our mother. We began by singing the hymn ‘As I kneel before you’ which is all about offering our love and trust to Mary and asking her to be with us.
Mrs Brown reminded us how Mary followed God’s will all her life no matter how difficult God’s plan for her was. She was courageous and never faltered in her trust in God.
Year 6 led us in Prayers of the Faithful, asking Mary to intercede for us with God. We prayed that we could be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world, do God’s will as Mary did and live our lives as a song of praise to God, in modesty and humility.
We processed to the grotto and sang Hail Mary. We then prayed for the church to build the Kingdom of God on Earth; for parents as they guide and nurture their children and for children that they grow up knowing the love that God has for them.
We asked God to help us to do His will even when it is difficult, just as Mary did. We prayed that Mary would always help us to have the courage and faith to say yes to God, whatever He asks of us.
