Young people have a vital role to play in the life of the Church and in the world. They offer hope, inspiration and courage. We are all called to be young in our outlook and our attitude and we can see in young people an example of how to live life to the full.
Our Mission this week
Make the effort to have a positive and youthful attitude this week. Help others to see hope in difficult situations
In our mission circles discuss what difficult situations we may be facing this week.

In Y6, the children identified several difficult situations that they and others may be facing this week. Our discussion touched upon the following: being unwell, struggling with school work, having a change of adult in class, having no one to turn to and therefore being lonely, being short of food to eat and not having somewhere to live. In Circle Time, the children reflected on the Anti-Bullying Campaign for this year (“Make some noise”) and created posters to encourage others to speak out about bullying.
This week we have been thinking about our theme ‘youth’ and how we can show positivity to others and ourselves.
We discussed this as part of our RSE lesson this week about being happy and supportive of others and how if sometimes things do not go our way, we can still see the positives or be happy for others.
Year 5 children – Youth
Our mission this week is about youth. Youth is about young people that have a young attitude. Young people have youth but you can have a positive and youthful attitude whatever your age. If you get a difficult question wrong you use hope, courage and inspiration to learn new things. When someone is about to do a wrong choice, you could distract them so they’ll forget. Most of them will forget but some will not. To learn you need to use our LEARN and SMART rules and the main one to have is an ‘I can attitude’ and always try.
During our Mission Circle on Monday, we discussed the term youth and the importance of a young person’s role in the life of the Church. We also spoke about how important positive thinking is for empowering youth and the impact it has on young people in achieving their full potential to create a positive change in the world.
For our mission this week, we were asked to have a more positive and youthful attitude and to help others to see hope in difficult situations. It was lovely to hear from so many children in Friday’s Mission Circle talk about how they had reached out to people who were feeling less hopeful by helping them feel more positive and optimistic. Well done everyone for trying hard this week to sprinkle a little positivity into other people’s lives.
