This week, we have discussed the meaning of the word ‘Welcome’.
In our Lectio Divina session, we reflected on how sharing is a powerful way of showing kindness and making others feel included. We thought about the different ways we can show welcome to others through our actions and words.
We also wrote down our own ideas about how we would welcome a new child into our class — from offering a smile and showing them around, to inviting them to join in games and making sure they never feel left out.
Eleni – If someone is looking sad I can try to make them smile.
Daniel – I will wave at people and say hello at school.
Felicity – I have been asking everyone to play games with me so they don’t feel sad.
At swimming, there was a new boy in my class so I welcomed him by talking to him and telling him what he needed to know – Abigail
At cheer, one of the girls was crying so I welcomed her back into the session and helped her with something that she didn’t understand – Florence
