This week’s word is “patience”. Bernadette gave the definition of patience as “waiting respectfully”.
We talked about the times when we have to ait: in line for school dinners, waiting for the teacher when we put our hand up for help, waiting for our parents to cook tea, waiting in line to come in after break. We said that waiting can be difficult as we live in a world where we expect instant replies to messages and quick deliveries of good we have ordered.
We heard this scripture:
We reflected on the story of St Clare, who held up a monstrance and prayed to the Lord to protect her from invaders. She waited patiently in prayer for the Lord to act and the invaders left.
This week’s mission is to spend time praying for the virtue of patience when you have to wait for something this week.

In EYFS we have talked and prayed about how we can be more patient in our lives, and how we show patience now. Shay shared with us that we wait for the doctor to call us when we aren’t feeling very well. Another idea shared was that we wait our turn to pick a book in the library, from Maja. Willow shared that we wait for our dinners to be cooked.

Inka – I waited patiently for my brother to finish hugging my mum so I could hug her.

In year 5, we had a whole class discussion about what we think patience means to us. Georgie and Ollie shared that to them patience means waiting your turn and waiting for others. Sienna realised this week that she is being more patient when waiting for her food at lunchtime, stating that ‘we don’t need to push in front of each other because everyone will get their food’. George has been trying to be more patient if he is early football training rather than getting frustrated. Finally, Daniel has said he wants to be more patient if he finishes his work before everyone else and has to wait for the next instruction.
Royalson- I waited patiently for my food and prayed to god to thank him for my food.
Aurnia- I waited patiently to talk to my friends and thought about how lucky I am to have friends.
Julia- I waited for a surprise and asked God to help me to be strong and wait patiently.
Ezra – I have shown patience by waiting for people in the line.
Yore – I have shown patience this week by waiting for my sister to use the bathroom when I need it.
Haizel – I have shown patience by waiting for my mum to make tea even though I was really hungry.
