Our school has been raising money for LOROS. We know that as Catholics we have a duty to love and serve God and other people, particularly people who are poor, sick or vulnerable. The children discussed what we could do – we can’t cure cancer and we can’t help every person who is ill. We thought about the little way of St Therese of Lisieux, doing small things with great love. She taught us that we show our love in small daily things we do for others. The children realised that if everyone did one small thing, then together we could achieve a great good, so all of the classes chose one thing that they would work together to achieve.
All of the children in Year 6 baked hundreds of cakes to raise money and also had a sponsored silence, Year 3 ran a guess the sweets in the jar competition and Year 4 all brought in one item of chocolate to make an enormous hamper which they raffled to raise money.
Over the next few weeks, the other classes will be working on their projects too.
We are still working together and hope to raise at least £1000 for LOROS. It’s only a little thing, but we hope that LOROS can use it to love and serve the people they care for.
