Year 5 led us in a liturgy focused on God’s gift of understanding. They asked us to think about how we can understand what God asks of us and how this can help us to live well. They shared the scripture Colossians 1:9-14, which told us how ‘God fills you with the knowledge of His will, with all the wisdom and understanding that His spirit gives’. They then chose to give the children a code breaker to work out, so that they could use their understanding of this to know that everything we do and everything that we have been given, is because God ‘rescued us from the power of darkness and brought us safe into the Kingdom of his dear Son’
They finished with a prayer asking God to help and give his understanding to others too.
Dear Lord, We ask you to show your understanding to us so that we can help the community by caring for the people and all of your creation. We are also asking you to help the NHS and give them the understanding they need to help get them through this tough time and to stay safe. Lord in your mercy hear our prayer.
