This week, Year 3/4 led us in a liturgy focussing on healing. They played the Hillsong Worship song Healer – which is about how the power of God works to heal us of our physical and spititual ills and asked asked us to focus on our breathing as we felt God’s presence round us and in us.
We looked at their prayer table and they asked us to guess what the theme was from the things they had included.
They included a first aid kit because we use those to heal people who get hurt at school, a cross because when Jesus died on the cross, His sacrifice healed us of our sins and a CAFOD box because they work across the world to help people who are hungry and sick.
In their opening prayer, we prayed that God would watch over our families and friends and all those who are sick to protect and heal them. Nicola explained that they chose the Gospel reading John 9 because it is about Jesus healing the blind man who noone else could help and that this reminds us that Jesus can do anything. All we need to do is trust Him and ask for His help.
Our response to the scripture was to think about how, even though we cannot heal people like Jesus, we can help those who are ill. They asked us to choose one person we know who is ill and think about how we could help them.
Our mission was to carry the person we thought of in our hearts and to help them this week in any way that we can.
