This week’s word is “scripture”. We talked about how this meant the Word of God in the Bible.
We heard this extract:
We talked about how the Bible contains passages which support us no matter how we are feeling. There is scripture to help you if you feel upset, ill, alone or frightened and there is scripture to help you to rejoice when you are happy.
Your mission this week is to reflect on a passage from one of the Gospels and to think about what it means to you. You might be able to link it to Catholic Social Teaching too.

Zizzi – We can pray for people that don’t have food.
Willow – We can help people who struggle with things.
Teddie – We can help look after our grandparents.
Bernie: “I helped Leighton outside when he fell and hurt his knee. I think it links to story of the Good Samaritan because I cared for someone who needed help.”
Fabian: “ I said sorry to someone when I accidentally bumped into them during break. I think this links to Jesus teaching us to love and forgive.”
Oscar: “ I helped to tidy up the hall after lunch. This links to Jesus teaching us to serve others.”
Christmas story
Emma- I think Jesus was sent to us by God to protect us.
Donny- I think Jesus being born was very important because God sent him and it makes me feel happy.
Thea- I think the Shepherds felt happy because they got to meet Jesus and Jesus is special to everyone he meets.
In year 5 we read The Parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37. Henryk said “it makes me want to be a good, loving person” Lottie said “to me it means helping people, even if they aren’t our friends” Gus said “it teaches us how to treat others”
Year 3 reflected on the Gospel of Mark 10:13-16, where Jesus blessed the children.
Tameeka – When I read about Jesus blessing the children, it reminds me that Jesus loves everyone, no matter how young or small they may seem.
Gursirat – This Scripture shows me that children are important to God and should be treated with care, patience, and respect.
Hubert – Jesus welcoming the children teaches me to be more loving towards others.
Tadiwa- “I thought about the passage, “for God so loved the world, he gave his only Son”. I thought about when I looked at the cross and was in awe at what God gave to us.
Eliza- “I have been really kind to people this week to live out the Gospel of Matthew when he teaches us Jesus’ new commandment to love our neighbours as we love ourselves.
Olivia B- This week we prayed a lot as a class and as a school so I thought about a piece of scripture from the Prophet Jeremiah that reminds us that God said “come and pray to me and I will listen.” I prayed a lot and hoped God heard my prayers.
In Year 2 ……..
Yamara said the parable of the lost sheep reminds her to say sorry when she has done something wrong.
Ruby said that when Jesus was tempted to turn the stone into bread he said “we cannot live on bread alone” and he meant we needed God in our lives.
Alyannah said the miracle of The Feeding of the Five thousand reminded her that God provides.
