In Year 3 and 4, we have been thinking about the story of Stone Soup and how it links to Catholic Social Justice Teaching. The message of the story is that if we share with others, everyone becomes richer in love. Isaac thought it was an important message because, especially in this pandemic, we need to make sure that no-one in God’s family is hungry or alone. Julia thought that the message of the story linked to the Catholic belief that God wants us all to be part of his family, sharing with each other and loving everyone.
We also thought about how the world can be an unjust place and it’s easy to be selfish but God doesn’t want us to take more than we need. We looked at this picture and thought about how we could change the world by trying to be more like St. Francis, our patron saint. we promised to give with loving hearts, like he did and to give an extra item to the food bank when we can. Maja also promised to try to share God’s love with everyone because many people are sad and afraid during lockdown and we need to show that we love everyone like God does.
