Journey: CTK’s Weekly Word 24.03.21

This week’s word is Journey: we are journeying through Lent, getting closer to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Saviour. We are about to enter into Holy Week which begins this Sunday: Palm Sunday.

Your mission is to create your own palm leaf and write on it what you are thinking, feeling, doing at this point in your own Lenten journey. Bring in your palm leaves and place them in front of the prayer tree at the front of school. Palm leaves were used as a sign of welcome and adoration when Jesus rode into Jerusalem, and we will be waving them in school to show Jesus we are welcoming Him into our hearts once again this Lent.

Comment down below what you and your classmates have been doing towards this mission – how are you going to live it out?

Consider these three things from today’s Weekly Word Assembly:

  • What did it make you think about?
  • How did it make you feel? (Especially Mrs Glassford’s lovely Irish Blessing Song which is about journeying to meet God in Heaven)
  • What are you going to do as a result?

Remember to leave your class’ name!

    Miss Dodd’s class:

Think: It made us think about the journeys we have been on like Mrs Glassford, when we are asking ‘are we nearly there yet?’ and thinking about how impatient we can be. It made us think that Jesus perhaps felt like this leading up to his death because he knew what was going to happen to him.
Feel: It made me feel happy that people were starting to gather because they had heard about Jesus, but also made me feel worried for him because I know what is going to happen to him in Holy Week.
Do: Some of us are going to decorate palm leaves and put them on our prayer area in our classroom. Some of us are going to attend virtual Palm Sunday mass online.
