Today, Tendai and Kyran led a liturgy they prepared at home, for the people involved in the incident on Monday, when the air ambulance had to land in our playground. They invited us to pray for all those who were involved, especially the gentleman who was hurt and those who rescued him. They invited us to remember those we knew who were injured or in heaven and for God to comfort and bless their families. The boys wished the man a speedy recovery, that he would be well again soon. As on Monday, Kyran led us in a decade of the rosary.
The ambulance flew overhead on Monday morning as Year 5 began their daily mile. At first we thought it was going to land at a nearby field but as it hovered above our heads, we realised it wanted to land in our playground. The children acted quickly and calmly – they ran inside as we threw all the tyres separating the two halves of the playground to the edges. Once it landed, the paramedics and doctor ran to the scene and Gary the pilot kept in touch with them by phone. We prayed the rosary before eventually being allowed to come outside and visit the ambulance. The injured man was taken to hospital by road ambulance. Thank you God for our rescue services.
