This week our theme is Diversity and as a school we have been thinking about how we can be a more inclusive community, making sure that we treat all people with respect regardless of their age, gender, race or ability.

Today we focussed on Black History Month and considered why it is important to celebrate the achievements of all communities in our world. We reflected on some of our learning in our History lessons and prayed that we could have the strength to stand up to injustice and racism in our community.

Mrs Brown has asked all of the classes to think about how we can create a charter to make sure that all children and adults in are community are included and treated equally. We will begin each line in our charter with: We will…

    Year 1 and 2 have said that we will make sure we are always using kind words and hands. If we see someone who is not being treated fairly then we can go and help them or tell an adult.

    We will always treat people with kindness and respect
    We will not judge or treat anyone differently because of the way they look or act

    We will play with a different person every day so everyone is included.
    We will support each other in class when our work is sometimes tricky or confusing, to help everyone feel valued.
