This week, Sr. Dorothy Paul, one our our parish sisters, came to visit Year 6 to talk to them about the children who have just begun to prepare for their First Holy Communion. She asked the class to keep the children in their prayers and explained why this was important.
The Year 6s each drew the name of a First Communion candidate from a bowl and Sr. Dorothy Paul explained that they would be the prayer buddy of this child as they prepared to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. She asked Year 6 to pray for their buddy every week, asking Jesus to help and guide them on their journey in faith.
The Year 6 chaplains thought it would be good if the whole school community could pray for the children too – especially those who go to different schools – so the chaplains are meeting at lunchtime to make prayer intention posters to put in all of the classrooms asking the children to pray for our First Communion candidates.
