On Friday 28th January 2022, we will celebrate the feast day of St Thomas Aquinas, after whom our Trust is named.
As part of these celebrations, each school has been asked to send a gift to their paired school. Our paired school is St Joseph’s Catholic Voluntary Academy in Market Harborough.
We chose to send them two wooden bird boxes. We chose these for two reasons:
- They encourage biodiversity which is a key Eco target
- St Joseph was a carpenter so we chose something made of wood
We met up online with Mrs Dabbs, headteacher of St Joseph’s, and some of their pupils for a virtual gift exchange.

Our gift from them were some chickens and some toy eggs! The chickens are part of a CAFOD World Gift. The chickens will go to a family in El Salvador. They will be able to eat the eggs they produce and, if there are some extra ones, they can sell them to make money.
We have created a display about St Thomas Aquinas and our paired school gifts are there for all of the children to see!
During our Mission Act of Worship, the chaplains explained all about the gifts to the rest of the school.
