This week we have been thinking about how to be an example to others. Year 56 had a liturgy where they thought about how Jesus is our greatest example. Everything He did was to teach us how God wanted us to behave, and to show how much God loved us. They chose the hymn ‘We come to the table of the Lord’ because, when we receive the Eucharist, Jesus helps us to have the strength to follow his example and be good examples to other people. As we looked at the prayer focus, they explained that the cross was a symbol of Jesus’ sacrifice and that they had included a Rosary because Mary is an example to all Christians because she did what God wanted, not what she wanted and always loved and trusted God.
They chose the scripture 2 Peter 16-26 because Peter was teaching the early Christians how to be good examples for others. The children then responded to the scripture by thinking about how they can be good examples in their lives.
