This week’s word is ‘piety’ which means being in awe of God. We talked about how we can use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit to do this.

We heard this scripture:

We talked about being in awe of God’s Creation – the world. We discussed how we could look after the bees and butterflies by planting wildflowers and not mowing the lawn so that dandelions – bees’ food – can grow. We talked about having an area in your garden at home that is wildflowers – even if it was just a pot – in order to promote the lives of bees and butterflies.

We also talked about making changes int he school grounds, and encouraged the children to talk to their teachers about how they could make changes to support God’s creatures.

Let us know in the comments below how you get on with this week’s mission.

Year 6 reflected on their time spent at Coalville CAN where we discussed the best ways to help wildlife flourish, help bees that are lacking energy and planting shrubbery that is both beautiful and beneficial to all wildlife.

This week in Year 4 we went out and helped our grounds by weeding and filling our bug hotel with sticks. We looked at what has been planted and how it is growing. we even saw some Bees around the flowers. We also helped by checking the pond and removing what shouldn’t be there to allow the froglets to keep growing in a healthy environment.

In year 2 we said that treating the planet with respect shows that we deserve and love what God has given us, however we must continue to show the planet love and kindness so that it will be everlasting just like the faith of the Lord.

The children in EYFS have been thinking of ways they can show respect for God’s creation. They decided that they were going to pick up litter if they saw it, put food out for the birds, make a habitat for some minibeasts and water the flowers.

Year 3 have began a project in Design and Technology where we will be designing a moving poster to promote and educate others on how we can recycle to protect Gods creation.
