This week’s word is ‘journey’.
We talked about how this can be a physical journey to a destination, such as when we go on holiday or it can be a journey to achieving something, such as working hard towards SATs.
We heard this extract from the Road to Emmaus:
We talked about how that even when we are most troubled or worried, Jesus is right there by our side, even if we don’t recognise it.
Your mission this week is to reflect on your Lenten journey so far. What did you choose to give up for Lent? Have you stuck to it? Has it been easy or hard? What could you do differently next Lent?

In Year 6 we have thought about about the significance of our Lenten journey and felt that we understood the meaning of Lent better this year as now we are older. We thought about things we could try to give up / take on next year that were harder so we can give up more for Jesus. We said that instead of giving up tangible things we might think about giving up things like our time or our belongings that could help other people. We also said we would try to spend more time with God during this season of Lent.
In year 3 we completed our mission by meditating our of Lenten journey, here’s what some children meditated about:
Tigua – ‘ I reflected on how I have given my time and patience up for people during the time of Lent, this was hard on some days but easy on other’s’
Sienna F – ‘ I gave up some of my toys for lent and I found this hard. However, I knew that it allowed me to grow during Lent’
Year 4 have made a conscious effort to follow in Jesus’ footsteps throughout Lent. We each gave up time or treats to remind us of Jesus’ sacrifice.
Ini – I gave up chocolate.
Clark – I gave up some time on my xbox to be with my mum.
Phoebe-Mae – I gave up my phone so I could help my dad.
Year 2 talked about what they have learned during their Lenten Journey, the sacrifices people have made for others and how they could be more like Jesus.
EYFS reflected as a class about their Lenten journey and how they tried really hard to follow in Jesus’ footsteps by giving up their time to help family by doing jobs around the house and by giving money,food,toys and clothes to the poor that they didn’t need. They thought that next year they might try spending more time with God during Lent by praying.
