This morning, we held our Year 6 Leavers’ Liturgy outside on the playground. This meant that the whole school could attend – as well as some Year 6 parents! It was wonderful to have everyone together!
The liturgy centred around the words of Oscar Romero: “Aspire not to have more, but to be more.” The children shared their memories of their time at St Clare’s. How they had made friends, built a community, prayed together and shared their faith.
The children were reminded that they should not be afraid as Jesus loves them all and will be by their side as they transition to secondary school.
The Year 6s then shared their favourite memories of primary school, including the trips they have been on and the friends they have made. Many used the opportunity to thank their teachers for their guidance and support.
Each child was then presented with a wooden crucifix as a memento of their time at our school. These were provided by the Friends of St Clare’s.
At the end of the liturgy, the children performed some of the songs from their end of year performance for us.
It was a wonderful way to say goodbye to our fantastic Year 6 cohort and we wish them all of the very best at secondary school.
