This week’s word of the week is ‘care’.
We began in prayer:
Lord,
Please open my eyes. Please let me see
those around me that are in need of my
compassion. Help me to listen to them, to hear
their needs. Give me the heart to be interested in
their troubles and show me the ways I can help. I
want to be compassionate. I want to be like you
that had so much compassion for the world that
you sacrificed your Son on a cross for us.
Help me to set a good example for those around
me so that we can all work together to make the
world a more kind, generous and caring place. We ask this and all our prayers through Christ our Lord.
Amen
We talked about what it means to care and how we show care. Ideas included:
- by looking after those who are sick
- by helping others
- by listening to others
- by holding the door open for others

This week Year 6 have tried really hard to show we care about each other. We focussed on being caring on the playground as we haven’t always found this easy. On the whole we have been much better at caring for our friends. We have also tried to make the staff feel as though we care, we tried to make Mrs Turland feel as special as possible on her birthday to show her that we care.
Year 3 have discussed how we can show care to others by helping them if they are stuck with their work, look after someone if they are hurt, help their parents and carers with chores at home. We have been reinforcing this all week with the hope to continue as we move through the year and later life.
Year 4 talked about how we can help others in our school community. We said that we could help those who are sad, need comfort or someone to talk to by giving our time to them. We said we could help those we sit next to if they are having difficulties with their work. We agreed that we should be aware of those around us who need help and not ignore them because we aren’t sure what to do.
In Year 2, We thought about what the word ‘Care’ meant and how we could live it out in our lives. We talked about the importance of caring for everyone…Not just the people we like!
EYFS decided that they could care for their community by picking up litter.They said that they would show their family and friends that they care by listening to them and following instructions like tidying their bedroom up and helping them by doing jobs like helping to carry the shopping.
In Year 5 we have decided that we can care for others by helping them in their learning, by explaining the question o them. If someone is hurt, we can take them to someone nearby to get them some help. We can be kind to others by using kind words to those we meet, especially if they’ve had a bad day and we can play with others if we see they are lonely.
In Year One we talked about how we could show care at school and at home. We thought of many ways to show care to our friends. We can share, use kind words and make sure everyone is included. At home we can make sure we are polite and kind to our brothers and sisters and show our parents we care about them by helping in simple ways around the house
