This week, we looked at the Bishop’s theme for the Pentecost term: Missionary Discipleship. We found out that this means acting out our faith – doing rather than just saying.
Examples of us behaving as missionary disciples include:
- raising money for charity
- inviting someone to go to church with you
- doing something kind for someone
- giving food to the hungry

This week Year 6 discussed all of the kind things we can do for others to show our faith and act as Jesus did. We can do this easily by helping someone, who is finding something difficult, that we find easier. This is especially prevalent as we head through the last few weeks of SATS preparation. We can be supportive of those around us, thinking about their emotional wellbeing and how we can help each other stay calm.
EYFS decide that they would share their faith with others by encouraging them to pray with them, show others that they love them by giving them hugs, help others to carry their shopping, help with the washing up and help others if they have lost something.
Year 3 discussed how we have and continue to live out this weeks theme. We discussed how following school rules, donating to food banks and helping someone if they are stuck are all ways in which we have shared our faith with others through our actions. A group of children also led a Class Liturgy on this and shared the story of how Jesus healed a blind man.
In year 4 we said that we would continue raising money for charity, talk to someone in class about going to church and what enjoy about it. We would do something kind for someone and try to make a donation to the foodbank each week.
