This week’s word is ‘kingdom’.
We talked about a kingdom being a place overseen by a king. We related this to heaven – the Kingdom of God.
The children talked about what they thought heaven would be like:
- peaceful
- everyone is happy
- kindness
- thankful
- loving
We heard this scripture:
The line in the Our Father which says “Thy Kingdom come” means that what it is like in heaven is what it should be like on Earth.
So by showing all of the attributes listed above, we are making Earth more like heaven. So that is your mission this week: To do something to make our community more like the kingdom of heaven.

Year 2 reflected on the Mission in RE when they thought about why God used Isiah as a messenger to the Israelites. He had to tell them of a new King coming who would be the light of the world before they had hope. We talked about how we can show God’s Kingdom on earth by showing kindness, sharing what we have and being peaceful.
The children in EYFS have decided to try and be peacemakers and get children to say kind things to each other, to invite others to play their games and to say sorry if they have upset others so that our kingdom on earth is as peaceful as it is in heaven.
Year 3 have decided to be helpful to those around them. This includes helping each other if they get stuck with classwork. They have also been helpful to other staff and children on the playground by making sure that if someone is hurt they call an adult.
