During our Advent Liturgy, our Year 4 children introduced this week’s word: hope.
We talked about hope being something you want or something you want to happen.
We heard this scripture:
As we prepare to celebrate Jesus’ birthday, we make a special effort to bring Jesus and his love into the world.
This week we think about the hope that we have because Jesus was born all those years ago.

Year 3 are hopeful for sharing love and kindness with others. That we can listen to others. We are also hopeful for peace in the countries that are at war at the moment. Also that those who are in need this Christmas find joy and peace.
In Year One we talked about how when we are sad or worried we can put all our hope in Jesus. We know that we are part of his family and he always listens.
EYFS are hopeful for peace, for everyone to love and care for each other as Jesus taught us. They are hopeful for people to help those who are hungry or without family and friends this Christmas that they are supported by the community and the generosity of those around them.
In RE Year 2 discussed what they are hopeful for. Some of their hopes are for peace in the world, for scientists to find cures for nasty diseases and illnesses, for the rain to stop, for more people to find out about Jesus, for some lovely presents this Christmas and for happiness for all.
Year 6 are hopeful for kindness and peace within our classroom. We hope that by being good followers of Jesus in our small space we can spread this to our wider community, using one small change to make a big difference.
This week’s theme fits very well with our ‘Hope’ RE topic in Year 5 so we have spent a lot of time thinking about hope and what it means to wait hopefully during Advent. In Year 5 we said we are hopeful that everyone will have a peaceful and joyful Christmas. We also hope for people to treat each other with kindness across the world and hope that we learn to serve each other like Jesus taught us to and like is in our school mission statement.
This week in Year 4 we enjoyed rehearsing and carrying out our liturgy all based around the theme HOPE! We wait and prepare this advent for the birth of Jesus Christ and we HOPE this time of preparation and reflection inspires hope around the world. We hope to have an exciting Advent, and we hope those in the world not as fortunate as ourselves find comfort in Christ
