As part of our chaplaincy role we met with Mrs Pelos to plan what we could do on Remembrance Day. We decided to make a wreath per class. We would fill it with paper made poppies to represent the poppies that grew in the field, where so many soldiers lost their lives. We visited each classroom handing out bags filled with red, green and black card to make the poppies. Every child in the school made and added a poppy to the wreath. Our chaplain Matthew K made a template for each class to help them.. Each class made their own wreaths and added the poppies these were then added to the school display.
Mr Hooley (our Deputy Head) led an assembly about Remembrance Day on Wednesday 11th November. He showed us a video about a woman from World War 2, called Norah Grajnet. She told us about her duties as an FANY.
It is important that we recognise Remembrance Day because without the sacrifice of the many who have fought for our country we would not have the freedom we have now.
