Our Year 3 children led us in a beautiful and fitting Christingle Liturgy to end our Advent Term.
We heard about the meaning of each aspect of the Christingle and the children challenged us to be a light for Jesus this Christmas period.
We listened to this reading from the book of Genesis:
Close your eyes tight. Now it’s all dark. Cover your ears. Now it’s all quiet.
Long, long ago, before the world began, everything was dark, everything
was quiet.
No people. No birds. No animals.
Then God spoke: ‘Let there be light! Let there be day.
Let there be a sun to shine.’
And the light came. How good the light was.
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Our liturgy was punctuated by music with each piece accompanied by a different way for all of the children across the school to participate, even though they were in their classrooms and taking part virtually:
During “Awake, Awake”, the children performed actions they had learned.
During “This Little Light of Mine”, each child held aloft a battery tealight and we turned out all of the lights – it looked amazing!
During “Shine, Jesus Shine”, the children performed a co-ordinated ribbon dance!
We finished with “We are Marching” which got everyone up on their feet and joining in!
We prayed that Jesus’ light would shine, in particular, on those in need, but also on our school and Parish community.
Thank you, Year 3 for a wonderful Liturgy!
