We are writing to tell you about what we are doing for Lent, with our Chaplaincy Team and in our school. Miss Jordan led a liturgy at the start of Lent on the theme of STOP, PRAY and GO. This is how we responded.
The STOP part tells us to stop whatever we are doing and pray to God. This means you should stop everything because whatever you are doing is nowhere near as important as speaking to God. This was one of our challenges – to spend five minutes a day, quietly, in prayer, with God. Now, the PRAY part as we said, is to pray to God, but say sorry as well – as it is Lent. Bishop Patrick told us we should try and “liberate” ourselves from things that keep us away from God. That means, less PlayStation, less time on devices and gaming. After you have prayed to God for at least five minutes, you can go do what you were doing before you started praying.
The GO part takes longer. You are probably wondering, what does GO have to do with anything? GO means go and spread the Good News and do good and helpful things. Mrs Neale came and spoke to our school about the work of Cafod and we are doing a whole school sponsored walk (with our families) to help end water poverty.
Hope you are all having a great Lent too. Please reply so we can hear what you are doing.
