On Monday, the whole school attended a Mass for the Solemnity of All Saints at St Wilfrid’s Catholic Church.

A Saint is one of those men and women who in their life, and often their death, set an example of how to live a life for God. They give hope to us all that we can be better people and one day even become saint’s ourselves! We are all called to Holiness and all called to live a life pleasing to God.

What could you do this week to live a life pleasing to God?

You could:

  • Make sure you say your prayers every night before going to bed
  • Show forgiveness to someone who has upset you
  • Show kindness to someone who is feeling sad
  • Be thankful for what your parents and carers do for you – tell them!
  • Write a prayer for either your class prayer area or the prayer area outside of the Year 6 classroom
  • Do something to look after God’s Creation
  • Give some unused clothing, books or toys to charity
  • Or something else

Your Mission this week is: to live a life pleasing to God.

Let us know how you achieve this week’s Mission.

Pope Francis quote: The Saints were not superhuman. They were people who loved...

In year 5, we spoke about all of the things that we could do both inside and outside of school to please God. We discussed that praying everyday to either thank God or ask him for help would mean we are speaking to the Lord and keeping him involved in our lives. We also discussed that God would want us to be kind and forgiving to everyone so when we are playing outside, we need to forgive those who upset us.

In Year 4 we are going to pray every night and say thank you to God. Mary showed forgiveness when she was bumped by someone. We are going to stop telling on each other and forgive each other. We are going to keep an eye out for those that are sad and lonely and help them offering our support and love. We also talked about how we can help God’s planet and the changes we can make to help keep it safe.

Year 3 have been talking about things they have done this week that would please God. Some children helped a teacher do some jobs at lunchtime, others showed kindness by sharing. Some children tidied their bedrroms and brought their washing down the stairs to their parents, others said ‘thank you’ to the person who cooked their delicious food for them.

Year 6 throughly enjoyed being back in church to celebrate Mass together. We spoke about how we could live like saints in our class assembly based on Saint Francis of Assisi through protecting the environment and being good stewards of creation. We also spoke about how we can be like the saints and be good role models to our buddies in EYFS by showing them how to make good choices. Finally, we all promised to make more time for prayer in our own lives outside of school.

In Year 1, we spoke about what we could do to live a life that is pleasing to God. We talked about Saint Bernardette and how she was kind, prayerful, and always helped poor people. We promised as a class to be kind to each other and to make prayer an important aspect of our daily lives.
